What it creativity coaching?

Well, I can tell you what I do. I help people be more creative and work toward fulfilling their dreams. I believe that all of us are creative in some way and when we embrace that, our lives can be filled with joy. I help people to paint, write, draw, bake, build, whatever. How do I do that? I help them overcome their fears. I help them learn to be brave.

I'm not sure that I can really discribe how coaching works. It works differently for each person. I do know that every time I coach someone I'm living my dream and filling my life with joy. I believe that everyone is an artist. Even if you are only creatively organizing your office space.

With this hub, I want to provide information, tips, and ideas for living a more creative joyfilled life.

Creativity Coaching Certificates, Where to get them & Who needs them

Right now in the USA, there are now laws covering who can be a coach. Anyone can call themselves a coach without getting any training at all. I feel this will change as the profession becomes more popular. There are schools and training centers that offer certificates when you have passed their program.

There are currently only two that offer certificates in creativity coaching. They are Eric Maisel and Kaizen Muse. Eric Maisel's class is a part of the full training you can get from the Creative Coaching Association. Each training program is completely different from the other. If you are looking to be trained as a creativity coach, please check out all your training options and make sure you find a quality program that fits your needs.

If you are looking for a coach, talk to more than one. Most coaches will offer a free 'get to know you' session. I recommend taking the session and only after completing it deciding if that coach is the right one for you. If you and your coach click, the coaching will go so much better. At this point in the profession of coaching I wouldn't stress to much on choosing a coach just because they had a certificate. Also remember that a coach does not need to be a doctor or trained therapist. Coaches are there to cure or diagnose you. If they say they are a doctor or therapist, please check that out.

Love your art so others can too.

I have often heard artist lament on how poorly their art sells. They say they want to sell there work to make a living and then the talk negatively about each piece. Who would want to buy something after they listened to the creator list every flaw?

I have found the these artist are also very good at negative self-talk. All the things that their inner critic tells them spills out of their mouths. Putting an end to this negative self-talk is a real chore. It is a chore that we must all do. We can learn to tell that inner critic to shut-up. We must, the life of our art depends on it. Our lives depend on it!

Here are some things you can try:

List all the negative things you tell yourself and then write a positve affirmation to counter act it. Keep you list of positive affirmations where you can see them and read them every day.

Every time you or someone else says something negative about your work, imediately respond with a positive.

Find one thing you like in every project. Even if it is a very small something.

When you talk about your work, let your passion for creating come through. Instead of telling everyone how you flubbed that brush stroke, tell them how wonderful it was to use the color blue.

These are just a few things we can do to start seeing our work in a more positve way and getting that feeling across to buyers. Buyers want to feel your joy in creating. When you are exicted about something it is so much easier to get others excited too.
